2010 National Parks Quarter Series
Beginning in 2010, the United States Mint will issue quarters featuring national parks & sites to be honored with a coin in each of the 56 host jurisdictions.
The United States Mint will consult with the Secretary of the Interior to ensure appropriateness of each of the 56 national site recommendations based on their natural or historic significance, and to validate the date on which each recommended site was established as a national site.
The approved list will also establish the order in which each quarter is released. Quarters will be released at a rate of five per year beginning in 2010.
The United States Mint will contact the head of the Federal entity responsible for the supervision, management, or conservancy of each national site. The United States Mint will ask the Federal entity’s head to appoint a knowledgeable Federal official to serve as its liaison for the national site (e.g., National Park Superintendent, National Forest Supervisor, Federal Preservation Officer). The liaison will assist the United States Mint by identifying source materials for candidate designs.
This does not calculate 5/56 that equals 11.2 years. If they produced 8 quarters per year thats a even 7 years or 4 quarters that would take 14 years….I vote for 8
